What Does a Criminal Justice Professional Do?
Juvenile Justice
Work with the youth of America as a Juvenile Probation Officer or Youth Counselor and change the life of a child or teenager. One person can make a difference.
Judicial Administration
Work on the front lines of crime as a Police Officer, Sheriff, Investigator, Coast Guard Crewman, Highway Patrol Officer or Park Ranger. Protect, serve and fight crime.
Law Enforcement
Jails, prisons, boot camps and halfway houses are seeking qualified workers to help supervise over 3 million criminals. Work with offenders or behind the scenes in administration.
Correctional Administration
Become involved in the judicial process and get your day in court--every day. Work as a court clerk, reporter, bailiff or victim advocate and help shape the U.S. justice system.

What career choices are available to graduates?
Upon graduation, you will be qualified to work:
- At prisons as a Corrections Officer or Parole Officer
- At youth facilities like juvenile boot campus as a Juvenile Detention Officer or Youth Counselor
- At adult facilities like halfway houses and group homes as a Group Home Supervisor, Correctional Treatment Specialist or Probation Coordinators
- In courts as a Bailiff or Victim Services Specialist
- At corporations and governmental agencies as Corporate Security Specialist, Corporate Investigator or Homeland Security Officer
- In law enforcement as a Police Officer*, Detective* or Highway Patrol Officer*
*PLEASE NOTE: To work in law enforcement in Colorado, you must be licensed as a peace officer. This requires that you:
- Have successfully completed a peace officer law enforcement academy certified by the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.)
It is recommended that you verify certification requirements of another state if you are considering relocation outside Colorado.

Classroom Procedures
Each course stands alone as a unit of study and is not dependent upon prerequisite training. A student may enter the program at the beginning of any course and continue through the sequence until completion of all courses. The course work consists of lecture/demonstration and practical applications.
